Warner talks about how the five-paragraph essay is simply a container, or a fill-in-the-blank questionnaire for college writers whenever they have to write anything. While he mentions that the ‘five-paragraph essay’ is harmful and limiting, I do not necessarily think that we should get rid of it because it is a necessary evil in the education system. Warner advocates for writers to constantly learn how to ‘write’ by experimentation and exploration. Warner mentions that it would be more beneficial if writers were able to freely write without limitations, and constantly improve by comparing and learning from what many others have already articulated. I definitely agree with this process, because it not only aims to improve writer’s writing skill but also to help these individuals learn about themselves and develop their own craft.

Thanks Keri. I would have liked to hear more about how the five paragraph model is a necessary evil in the education system.
