The children’s book, “A Mouth with a Mind of its Own” focuses on the mission of a young child Matthew improving his speech. The relationship Matthew has with Mrs. Hick, his speech therapist, quickly becomes one of adoration for his literacy sponsor. Matthew and Mrs. Hicks spend an abundance of time together after school playing games, reading alphabet books and using pictures arranged in categories such as foods, colors, shapes and activities. Mrs. Hicks serves as a trusted figure in Matthew’s life of whom motivates him to improve his daily life. Over time, with both dedication and hard work, Matthew manages to fully improve his speech due to the bond created with Mrs. Hicks and the support she provided day by day.
