- An event or memory I want an apology for was when I was disrespected by a friend. They did not respect my opinion and decided to push their own onto me. I would want them to apologize by taking the time to pull me aside and speak to me privately or to write a letter explaining their actions and how apologetic they felt. I value my feelings greatly, so it would make me reconsider the friendship if they were to show how much they value me and my beliefs. If I were to receive this apology I’m not sure if I would forgive the person because my feelings were hurt very greatly, but I would talk to other friends that I trust to see what the best options would be. I hope in the future that this person actually does take the time to apologize and try to mend the breaks in our relationship.
- A former version of myself that I would like to visit is the 10 year old Dionna. Back then in 2009, I was extremely shy and did not have many friends. It was hard for me to have conversations with my classmates or other children my age because my interests were in science, books, and Broadway musicals. I met very few children who shared my interests. Most of the time I would have conversations and friendships with adults because they seemed to understand me and enjoy my presence. I would reassure and comfort my 10 year old self by letting her know that she should not worry and that one day she will find friends that share her interests and will enjoy her company.
- I wish I knew more about my paternal great grandmother. She passed away in 2015 and although I spend copious amounts of time with her, I do not feel as if I truly know her. In order to investigate more about my great grandmother I would mostly like turn to my parents. They spent decades by her side and have a lot of photos and memories of her to share. I think learning about my great grandmother would change my life in many ways. I would get to feel a sense of closure that has been missing since her passing and allow her to continue living in my memories because I do not feel I have enough. She would become ubiquitous and live on for forever.
- A local event that I would like to learn more about would be about the case regarding Jayme Closs in Wisconsin. A man, who was a stranger to the family, broke into their home, murdered the two parents, and then kidnapped and held Jayme captive for several months. In order to find out more about this case I would have to speak to a journalist. I would want to receive all of the details to understand the situation because it frightened me greatly.
- A piece of art that moved me was a photo shoot of several famous jazz musicians in Harlem. I first saw the photo in an LSP seminar in a documentary called “A Great Day in Harlem” by photographer Art Farmer. On that day that the infamous photo was taken every musician gathered together in their clothing for an Esquire shoot. In the documentary, each musician is featured and their relationships with each other were discussed with the members of the photo that are still alive. This documentary made the photo come to life and even showed to the viewer how joyous and vibrant the musicians were on that great day in Harlem.

I’m also curious about Jayme’s life post-abduction. FYI, there was an abduction marathon on Lifetime last weekend.
