I appreciate your list of different arguments Davidowitz is making. I wondered if you felt like any of his arguments are stronger than others?

Thanks Andrew– sorry to see this a bit late! I think your point here: A working America that is going through some major changes.

is an important one– all of the excerpts cite the working class as experiencing “change” in the most “violent of ways.” In White Rage the working class is not allowed to vote. In Adios America the working class is unable to go to the park because it’s destroyed. In White Trash, the working class is being manipulated and/or made into a spectacle. It’s a great point. I wonder what role RACE has in the lives of the working class?

A literature review is a critical analysis of different sources. A literature review is similar to an argumentative in that they both argue and try to persuade the reader about certain points. The literature review is more of evaluating how authors of different sources approach their argument. The argumentative essay is more of using sources to prove your point of view. In the argumentative the writer doesn’t have use all the knowledge they have on the topic only what supports their argument. Thats different from a literature review which includes all information about the topic that sources talk about, and the writer has to evaluate it. The most important thing in a literature review is evaluating the sources and the information they provide that oppose or support the writers argument. Argumentative essay on the other hand is focusing mainly on the argument and how to convince the reader. Also a literature review uses more than 2 sources, and an argumentative uses as much as the writer needs to get his/her argument across and persuade the reader. Lit reviews have to have credible sources, and they are usually more descriptive than argumentative essays. The structure in both essays are the same, both having an introduction, body and conclusion.

Literature review and argumentative essay are different. Literature review is designed to involve critical analysis of all knowledge discovered about a subject. It deals with examining and evaluating of discovery from different  researchers about a subject. When writing literature review, it is important that sources on a particular topic is found and analyzed extensively showing the credibility of the researchers and the type of emotion and tone used.  Unlike an argumentative essay, it is used to prove an argument on what is known about a topic. It involves arguing to show your point of view on the topic without much reference to those that discovered the knowledge.

However, literature review and arguementative essay are similar in some ways. They both have the same structure: Introduction, body and conclusions; thesis statement which is debatable and both involve persuasion of the reader.
