Sources 1,2 and 4 discuss the reasons why make up is bad for the skin and the things it can cause on the skin. It also discusses some of the ingredients used on make up that cause those reactions. Source #4 discusses how make up is tested on animals so that it proves that is healthy for humans. If they can’t prove is healthy for humans the cosmetic is not allowed to be sold. The last source discusses the history of make up and it’s evolution. All these sources are important to my claim because even when it began there were disadvantages to make up. Women did home cosmetic which were not tested and harmed their body. The other articles demonstrate that not only people are harmed through these ingredients but also animals.

https://hbr.org/2013/09/women-in-the-workplace-a-research-roundup (Silva & Cater, n.p, 2012.)
This source is discussing the inequality women deal with in work environments and how men have a higher salary than a women working the same job. This will help me with my research because it will prove the gender inequality in workforces. This source is credible because this source is coming from a Harvard business reviewer who looked into a catalyst study of many graduates of both men and women and found that men tend to get the lead advancement than women do.
http://www.ilo.org/global/about-the-ilo/newsroom/features/WCMS_203525/lang–en/index.htm (The sex and race workplace double whammy, n.p., 2013)
This source is discussing race and gender and how people such as African Americans and Muslims in particular were being discriminated and how people would deny them just by the name on their applications. This will help me on my research project because it will help portray the racism in workforces. This is credible because this source has gotten their information from people who’ve experienced these conditions.
https://www.thebalance.com/what-is-the-american-dream-today-3306027 (Amadeo, n.p., 2017)
This source helps clarify the idea of the American dream and how it is no longer what it used to be. This will help me on my research project because it will give people a better idea on what the essay is really trying to discuss. This source is credible because she has credited all the information of all the facts she’s found.
http://www.economist.com/node/7059155 (Inequality and the American Dream, n.p., 2006)
This source is also building on the idea of how the American dream is not true and how it leads to the inequality in economy and diversity of people in workforces. This source is credible because it gives many examples as to why you should believe that the American dream is just a boast.
http://fortune.com/2014/11/04/hiring-racial-bias/ (Arends, n.p., 2014)
This source is also similar to the first and second article because it discusses the racial discrimination and explains how many people don’t get the job by just their name on their applications and the unjust system on picking people by their names and not their experience.

Great work here Kristina, it seems like this source: https://www.thebalance.com/what-is-the-american-dream-today-3306027 (Amadeo, n.p., 2017)
will be used mostly as a part of your introduction to define the American Dream and explain that it doesn’t exist anymore. I wonder how you’ll transition into your focus on inequality in the work force.

https://theprose.com/post/123911/leigh-daniel-avidan
Starting off, this a brief biography of Danny’s life including any notable events that he’s mentioned in the past that made him the way he is today. It includes the major part of what I’m including in my research and that is his early days with music. Everything on the site has been said by Danny himself to the public and it includes no notable false information according.
This is more of a gimmick that I will talk about it my paper. It talks of an astronaut by the name of Sergei Krikalev who spent 804 days in a space station and was then returned to earth, but he seemingly returned less than a second in the future. It talks about how this is possible through a process called time dilation. It includes legitimate research from a credible news source and it is fit to be included in my research.
http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-15874560
This site gives a rundown of climate change’s history. It consists of small and quick bullet points that show notable moments in the earth’s history regarding the changing environment. It goes on to mention the population growing, the first use of the term “global warming,” and even politicians on the topic of climate change.
This might be one of the most important articles in my research. It provides a clear point I can make in terms of time travel’s potential to fix major mistakes in history. It talks about a strike against the MTA that occurred in 1980 which forced transit to stop for 11 days. This made the MTA’s income plummet severely which lead to a toll increase all because the MTA was refusing to give their employees a raise that they were demanding. Instead they tired to compromise with a ridiculous and almost insulting counter offer.
http://web.mta.info/nyct/facts/ffhist.htm
This is where I got the previous source from, as it gives a timeline of notable events involving the MTA. One of these events included the strike going into effect. This article is direct from the MTA itself and therefore it has credible information and quite crucial information that I can use to my advantage in time travel being an effective method.

I’m curious to see how the astronaut source will be used in your piece. I know you mention it as a gimmick, but do you think the imagined scenario you’ll put the reader in is one where they’re in space and working through these issues to be able to come back to earth only a second later and resolve all crises?

My second source is arguing that the FBI tries to focus on the negatives. The FBI views the BLM as a domestic terrorist group. I found it interesting that they noted this was a new title that started within trump’s administration.

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>In this source it talks about the many alternatives to make cosmetic products safe and effective instead of testing on animals. Throughout this source it explains every alternative, detailed. Some of the alternatives it mentions are using Human tissues, computer models, cell cultures, and volunteer studies. I will use this source in my argument to argue that there are other ways that are better and more ethical to make cosmetic products safe and effective without cruelly having to test on animals. </span>

This organization includes all the countries that have banned makeup companies from testing on animals there. It also mentions the countries that are working towards banning animal testing. Some of the countries that have banned this practice are India, European Union, Israel, and Norway along with 33 other countries. Some of countries that are working towards this are New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina and more. I will use this source to prove how other countries have taken this big step to encourage more countries, like the United states to do the same as well. </span>

Since L’Oreal has been one of the largest cosmetic manufacturer in the world. One of the actions that this organization has taken has been like discussing with the U.S House of Representatives. I will use this source to further explain what steps are being taken to stop testing on animals, and how these are steps being done to get closer to the goal. </span>

Super interesting that other countries have already banned animal testing but we’re somehow behind– I’ll be interested to see if the reasons for us not banning it becomes a large part of the work you do.

http://www.newsweek.com/human-genome-editing-crispr-454315 – Talks about if we have genetic diversity there are major decisions that will have to be taken into account. What happens if gene editing doesnt come out exactly how you want? Also the need to maintain diversity within humans.
https://www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/genetic-inequality-human-genetic-engineering-768 – Talks about how through gene editing we can cure diseases. Instead of focusing on only the bad it gives a more positive side to gene editing.
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2016/08/human-gene-editing-pro-con-opinions/ – Talks about the risk of gene editing. I can talk about how with gene editing we dont know how it could effect those we perform the editing on.

Interesting, so your topic now is on gene editing. I wonder what the intersection will be between gene editing and your conversations on good and evil.

Tumblr.
Tumblr has a collection of various pictures that can be used for my project. It can also provide testimonies.http://www.oprah.com/spirit/oprah-winfrey-leadership-academy-for-girls-graduation-photos
Oprah Winfrey has opened a school for girls. This shows how important she believes education is for girls.http://www.etonline.com/real-co-host-jeannie-mai-files-divorce-husband-freddy-harteis-after-10-years-marriage-89786
Women are often criticized for not sticking to the expected standards of life. Jeannie Mai refused to conform to the picture perfect life and is choosing herself. This shows a woman who is staying true to herself.https://always.com/en-us/about-us/our-epic-battle-like-a-girl
Girls would always be depicted as weak. This campaign encourages young girls to take charge of the “like a girl term.https://www.upi.com/4-percent-of-US-firefighters-women/22871210625538/
This source shows the gap there is of female firefighters to male firefighters. Many careers are labeled as “male careers.”-

I love the visual component of your sources, I only urge you to narrow your focus so it doesn’t become overwhelming. What are THREE objectives you have for this project? 1) To show the limits put on girls through advertising? 2) ? 3)?

I’m so fascinated by the idea of arguing against specific claims vegans make– it isn’t going to save the world, killing animals is good for the earth, etc. I wonder if you’ll use humor in your project?
